This was an all day event on April 10th. Lanette and I arrived at the bluebonnet field at 7:30 in the morning, and as I was unloading our equipment, I noticed some sprinkling on the windshield of the truck. Well, that was the beginning of about 2 and a half hours of rain. We nearly packed it in and headed home, but thankfully it stopped and it turned out to be a wonderful day.
Except for the mud.
For the next 5 hours or so, the morning's rain had turned the local clay dirt into a sticky, globby mess. It was like walking around in Playdough. We had to occasionally take a stick and pry the snowshoe-sized plates of mud off the bottoms of our shoes, and the stuff got all over our pants as well. Ugh.
We met some great folks that day, and I got a chance to photograph some really cute kiddos. Here is a sample of the day's activities:
